Learn GREEN – Оutdoor STEM

This project aims to promote innovative ways of teaching STEM outdoors in particular to girls and underprivileged children aged 8-16. The rationale is that the target group is underrepresented in STEM occupations and with the project we aim to motivate them to consider STEM-oriented careers. Recent studies have shown that children are better susceptible to STEM subjects, therefore we want to enhance their curiosity with the possibilities that STEM offers. At the same time, we aim at bridging the gap between digital technologies with real nature by designing and implementing combined STEM activities: online and outdoors. As a result, students will not only have knowledge but will also get equipped with skills for solving real complex problems required in today’s world. Another known problem that children face is the application of theoretical knowledge in nature. To overcome such problems, the project aims at defining difficult theoretical tasks and offer various implementations of the theory in the natural world. Through using a guided mobile application, using gamification elements for motivation, students will be able to easily understand the connection between theory and practice.

The project is implementing the following learning and training events:

1. Learning and Teaching activities GREEN & STEM trail around the city of Burgos

Students from Slovenia, North Macedonia and Spain tested the developed STEM learning trails in Burgos using tablets and mobile phones in March 2023. A short video of the first learning trail is here, and to get a glimpse of the second learning trail in Burgos go here.

2. Learning and Teaching activities GREEN & STEM trail around the city of Skopje

Students from Slovenia, North Macedonia and Spain tested the developed STEM learning trails in Skopje using tablets and mobile phones in May 2023. A short video of the first learning trails is here.

The kick-off event for Erasmus+ KA-220 GREEN&STEM project

On May 5th, 2022, the five project partners:

met at the Faculty of Information Studies in Novo Mesto during the kick-off meeting for Erasmus+ KA-220 GREEN&STEM project. Three team members from each institution discussed planned activities, deadlines, shared their ideas, etc.

In the project we have foreseen the following intellectual outputs (IO).

IO1: Toolkit GREEN&STEM (duration M01-M12)

The main goal of this intellectual output is the development of the GREEN&STEM toolkit and resources. The toolkit is an easy-to-use and ready digital collection for outdoor science and mathematical activities, with a specific focus on girls and underserved communities. The toolkit is based on visual, peer-to-peer and collaborative learning, and it involves information and communication technologies.
